Photos from our last few days, spent in Beijing - mostly Tiananmen
Square and the Forbidden City. After the trek, we spent a few days in Beijing, staying at the
Exhibition Centre hotel. Here are some photos from those days, mostly
taken on the morning spent on Tiananmen Square and in the Forbidden
City.

The impressive Monumnent to the Peoples' Heroes which forms the

Don't ask me why I'm trying to look 'ard, because it's a complete
mystery to me. Anyway, here I am on Tiananmen Square, with the
Tiananmen Gate (the entrance to the Forbidden City) behind me.

I was very impressed by this Soviet-style monument to the revolution,
located just west of the entrance to Mao's Mausoleum. There's another
view of the same statue here.

Easily the tallest Chinese I saw on the trip, these guys sauntered
past while we were busy photographing each other at Tiananmen Square.
Presumably theie extreme height made them ideal candidates for the
important task of wandering around the square intimidating the
tourists. :-)
